My username is not reflected in hadoop fs

[purbitabiswas0608@gw03 ~]$ hadoop fs -ls /user/purbitabiswas0608
[purbitabiswas0608@gw03 ~]$

shows nothing. which means there is no user with purbitabiswas0608 in hadoop fs. I don’t have sudo access, so the below command does not work as well. Please help

sudo -u hdfs hadoop fs -mkdir /user/purbitabiswas0608

Yes, Thank you! I guess it was empty. Tried putting a file and it worked.
Please close this ticket but, are we students not allowed sudo hdfs access?

Copying crime directory has taken over 15mins.

[purbitabiswas0608@gw03 ~]$ hadoop fs -du -s -h /user/purbitabiswas0608/crime
1 G /user/purbitabiswas0608/crime

[purbitabiswas0608@gw03 ~]$ du -sh /data/crime/
4.3G /data/crime/

is it supposed to take so much time?

Yes, time depends upon the file size.
